History

The Wood Cycle Farm is located 8 miles from Madison’s beltline on Fish Hatchery Road. The farm was owned by an area family for 98 years. After moving to a larger farm, the farmhouse became a rental property, while the unused barns deteriorated. We purchased the site in 2002 to establish The Wood Cycle, a fine woodworking business that processes local hardwoods into fine furnishings, cabinetry and other works. The existing buildings were restored and in January, 2008, in the midst of the heaviest snow winter on record, we move our primary building to the site from the Village of Oregon, across the snowy fields. Press coverage included The Capital Times, The State Journal, two television crews, with one television story carried by both their Milwaukee affiliate and CNN.

Grand Opening

Renovations of the barn followed and in April, 2009 The Wood Cycle held a Grand Opening. Amidst the rain, over 500 people visited the site, watched logs sawn, planted trees and viewed our work.
